    President/Founder Freda L. Thomas

    Freda-turnedFreda L. Thomas, long-standing advocate for social change, created the scholarship fund in 2003. Five applicants have benefited from her initiatives, which have included awards to single parent mothers living in shelters, helping to provide them education and job training through various New York City institutions. Thomas is a New York State Certified Business Advisor.  She possess 15+ years of experience developing, directing, and implementing plans that improve and expand an organization’s market position and financial profitability. Thomas owns her own consulting firm, where she serves as business coach, writes business plans and proposals, facilitates business training, utilizes business process improvements to help companies resolve challenges, and creates marketing solutions using social media marketing.  Thomas holds an MBA from Baruch College in New York City, with a specialization in International Business Management. Activities/Awards/Affiliations- She is a Global Advisor to the International University Center Haiti, a member of World Voices Toastmasters at the United Nations; and she was awarded the honor, “Most Prepared Negotiator”-elected by MBA cohorts 2009.     Vice President Felicia Mann

    Felicia Mann has over 17 years of experience working in the retail industry. Her area of specialty is managing projects from conception through implementation to improve processes and efficiencies. Her retail career began with Liz Claiborne where she worked as a buyer in the Outlet division. She later transitioned into the Business Transformation Leader to help in the retail system conversion for the Y2K effort. It is in this position that she sharpened her project management and process re-engineering skills. She later joined Bed Bath and Beyond as a Project Manager and is now Director of Store Operation Systems where she manages system implementations to improve processes in the stores.

    Felicia has helped others navigate career opportunities by volunteering with the Employment Ministry at her church, in addition to providing ongoing financial support for the Willing Hearts Community Center located in Newark, NJ.

    WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO SERVE ON THE BOARD
    She became a part of the Freda L Thomas Scholarship fund because it is an exciting opportunity to provide excellent students without the financial means to attend college. She has been a board member for this organization since 2007.
