Annually, one student will be provided a scholarship.  Awards are subject to increase based on anticipated rising costs of an education.  The renewable merit-based scholarship can be used to attend the college of choice, within the New York City area, and or tri-state area.  Scholarship is not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.

Potential awardees are selected in the fall or spring prior to entering college.  A minimum of 3 students will be interviewed and one student will be designated recipient.  Students are able to apply as possible awardees, students who are recommended by a high school guidance counselor or administrator, interviewed in February by Freda L. Thomas and or the Board of Directors.

In March of the year the student will matriculate, the recipient is given written and verbal notification of his/her award.
